The Thumbnail Sketch

Clingman’s Dome, Cades Cove, The Morton Overlook, these are just some of the iconic locations we will visit on this spring workshop to Great Smoky Mountain National Park. This park offers something for everyone, great landscapes, charming historic buildings and settlements, bear, deer, coyote, turkey, songbirds. But the real highlight of this workshop will be the wildflowers the trip is being timed to coincide with the peak of the spring wildflower season in the Smokies. The park is known to many as the “wildflower park” for a reason. At this time of year the forest floor is carpeted with a riot of wildflowers. In addition to the forest floor the dogwood and rosebud should also be at peak. Additionally all of the streams and waterfalls running at a very high volume will make for even more photographic opportunities.

The Accommodations

Included in the price is 5 nights lodging in a beautiful 4200 square foot mountain cabin with spectacular 360 degree views. The cabin is located in a 150 acre private gated community with only 7 homes. The “cabin” boasts, a game room, theatre, and a private outdoor Jacuzzi. The cabin also has a full kitchen to prepare breakfast and snacks. All this and only a 10 minute drive to the park. The cabin has mostly private and a few joint rooms preference for private rooms will be given to early registrants.

Update 1/11/12

The workshop will be based out of Townsend, TN. If you are flying in Knoxville is the closest airport, which is a 45 minute drive. I will be happy to try to help coordinate ride and rental sharing whenever and wherever possible. Participants should plan on arriving late Thursday afternoon or evening. We will be shooting first thing Friday morning and go through Tuesday morning a full 4 1/2 days of shooting ( if you have a drive you could leave Tuesday AM if you wanted to). All lodging costs Thursday night through Monday night are included in the price.

I would like to travel with my non-photographer wife. Would we be able to have a private room if registering at this time?
    Thanks, Tom
