Guided tour of Fes’ fascinating medieval medina throughout rest of the day. Navigate & photograph the maze!
November 13 FES
Morning visit in “new Fes” (dating from 14th cent.) followed by lunch and a photo shoot with a local family. Photography Workshop in the afternoon. Night photography practice.
November 14 IFRANE | MID-ATLAS | ZIZ VALLEY | Erfoud
Spend the day on a beautiful journey southwards through a remarkable diversity of landscapes: Visit Swiss-like Ifrane, have lunch in Midelt, descend into the legendary Ziz Valley, arrive Erfoud, the gateway to the Sahara.
November 15 ERFOUD | SAHARA DESERT
Continue by 4x4s into the Sahara Desert south of Erfoud: Visit with nomads, and have a private lunch at an oasis. A breathtaking late afternoon awaits: a sunset camel ride, dinner and overnight in our private desert camp.
November 16 SAHARA | TODRA GORGE | DADES VALLEY
Sunrise photo shoot in the dunes. Continue exploring the Desert in the morning, then head westward: Walk in the striking Todra Gorge, and continue into the beautiful Dades Valley.
November 17 DADES | SKOURA OASIS | AIT BEN HADDOU
Leisure time in the morning to review photos and relax. Lunch and photos at a Berber home in the Skoura Oasis. Tour the imposing 11th century Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou.
November 18 HIGH ATLAS CROSSING | MARRAKECH
Cross over the beautiful High Atlas Mountains en route to Marrakech. Late afternoon walk in Marrakech to magical Djemma el Fna Square at dusk.
November 19 MARRAKECH
Guided tour through Marrakech's ancient medina throughout the day. Navigate and photography the souks, artisan areas, Ben Youssef Medersa, and visit the Photography Museum hosted by the Director. Return to Djemma el Fna for a second photo shoot.
November 20 MARRAKECH
Morning visit to historic Marrakech Monuments (Bahia Palace, Badia Palace, Koutoubia Mosque). Enjoy afternoon options or leisure time back in Marrakech. Final photo show & Farewell Dinner.
November 21 Depart Marrakech
Return home, an epic journey completed.
OPTIONAL 1-NIGHT PRE-TRIP EXTENSION to CASABLANCA:
Travelers interested in seeing Morocco’s largest city can fly in one day early and stay overnight in Casablanca before transferring to Fes to meet the group.
Schedule as follows:
November 9 - Depart U.S.
November 10 - Arrive Casablanca and transfer to city on arrival. Overnight at Val d’Anfa hotel, by the Atlantic.
November 11 - Morning city tour of Casablanca’s main highlights including the awe-inspiring Hassan II mosque, the largest on the continent and one of the grandest in the world. After lunch, transfer to Fes in the afternoon
OPTIONAL 2-NIGHT POST-TRIP EXTENSION to ESSAOUIRA:
Beautiful, laid-back Essaouira on the coast serves as a wonderful counterpart to the buzz of Marrakech for those who can stay an extra two days.
The pace is intentionally relaxed, with more time at leisure to photograph and explore the whitewashed medina (encased in an old Portuguese fort).
Schedule as follows:
November 21 - Late morning drive to Essaouira. Afternoon guided walking tour in the medina. Overnight at the deluxe Villa de L’O Hotel.
November 22 - Photo activity with David and time to explore at leisure (or, we can facilitate any activity you’re interested in). Final dinner at the whimsical Caravan Cafe restaurant.
November 23 - Departure after breakfast back to Marrakech (or potentially Casablanca) for flights back home.
